September 4th- Hey, if you're like me,
Labor Day weekend meeans one thing... FOUR HOUR SALE
AT WAL-MART, BABY!! Actually, I'm glad the NFL wised up and moved
their opening day back to Labor Day Weekend. Every six years or
so they try to knock it back a week. But then, players and fans bitch about
playing their final regular season games on Jan 3rd. By scheduling it
on Labor day, it made
this Goats-Donkies game seem like a special occassion.
It was like a freaking Nintendo game. You know the type. You
run up the score something like 46-40 between the Saints and the Bengals. Scrubs like Corey Dillon
run for 300 yards and the Saints have ten sacks. You run your fullback up the
middle on 3rd and 2 and... BAM, he makes like John Riggins and bust 87 yards for a
touchdown. THAT'S the type of game the Donkies and Goats has last night. How else
do you explain a two yard quick out turning into an 80 yard TD? I mean, 41-36?
Criminy!
Still the Donkies hung in there and will probably score more points than
most teams will against the Goats. Griese did have his chance, but as always,
he found a way to hit the turf and save himself the agony of having to run down
field and stop the clock. Good move, actually. Save yourself the stress of trying
to make the right read or try to figure out the nuances of clock management. Just
find the nearest big dude in a Rams jersey and let him give you a hug. The game will
be over much quicker and you'll have more time to "study your mistakes for last year".
But, he knows he can play this game...
When did ABC hire Mushmouth from "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids" as their sideline
reporter? I'm so glad to see that Mushmouth found some work... I haven't seen that
kid since the late 70's and I was legitimately worried.
I'm sure I'm not the only guy saying this, but: that Melissa Stark is a little package!!!
And if I AM the only guy saying this, then all I can say is "Dude, I got dibs!!".
A serious concern popped up in the fourth quarter. Al Wilson went out with a bum shoulder and
could be out until the presidential elections. The Donkies, who had all sorts of
linebacker depth about a month ago, now have a predicament. Ian Gold is not ready for
every down duty. Gizzi and Wayne have departed. Cadrez is the only savior, but for
some reason he doesn't impress me.
Didn't I express some concern over how easily Matt Hasselbeck passed through the
Donkies' secondary, about three weeks ago? Hell, it's over and they probably
won't see this team again. I imagine alot of teams will look at how the Broncos'
offense moved against the Rams defense, and capitalize on it. It's a league of cheaters.
Oh well, Dan Reeves is in town next weekend and that should enable the Donkies to get
back on track. "Aht-standin..."
FINAL CUTS
I saw Andre Cooper is back on the roster?? What happened to Andre Reed? ... || ...
I copyrighted my official Kurt Warner Quarterback Sack call. When he gets hit,
you make a sound like a grocery store speaker system and go "SQUAWK.. Clean up on aisle three..
SQUAWK". It's funny, trust me ... ||... I feel sorry for Warner. See that skank he's
hooked up with? Dang, dude couldn't waited until after he won the Super Bowl and had his
pick of any bimbo... || .. Yeah, yeah..but you can't have a football column without a
little male chauvanism!
