"At least they
can't fuck up the BYE week. Although it wouldn't surprise me."
-Me, Last week
"The law doesn't discriminate. Whether you've been drinking all night, or just had a few
drinks, the law's the same". OOOOO.. way to take the moral high ground, Princess!!!
For those arriving late, Brian Griese, arguably the only person on earth more full of shit than
Rush Limbaugh, was pulled over for a DUI last weekend. Don't look now fantasy football geeks,
but Griese was the NFL's highest rated quarterback this weekend! Highest rating on the
breathalyzer, that is! I'm sure this is some kind of NFL record: first jackass QB to
lead the league in something, during his bye week.
The actual DUI doesn't bother me as much as Griese's aforementioned comments. He was
EXTREMELY quick to point out that he "only had a few drinks" and his subseuqent comments
that "everyone's done it". Well I guess it's okay, then, huh, bunky? What a dick... open mouth, insert
cleats. Instead of an actual apology, we get this quasi "I didn't do anything
wrong" speech. What's worse is he's giving the illusion that he's accepting some
responsibility. Trust me, Griese isn't responsible enough to wipe his own ass. Princess, you
fucked up... yer getting fined... yer a shitty quarterback with all the mobility
of a cadaver...welcome to reality, my name is
ES, I'll be your host.
This morning (11/1/00), rumors are flying this morning that Griese's blood alcohol level was actually
HIGHER than intially reported.
Imagine that, Denver Police actually screwing up??? I will have a freaking
FIELD DAY if this is true. My least favorite player (including Junior Seau) is a
hypocritical bastard! Regardless, expect the alcohol jokes to increase as the season
goes along. I wonder if Griese's now bonded with John Mobley? And they say he can't
relate to his team...
The NFL's policy is to fine him somehting like 2,500 bucks. That's peachy and all.. but I'm
remembering that Romanowski's been fined five to six figures. Didn't he get hit with
an $18,000 fine for busting Kerry Collins' jaw in 1997? The competition committee
would state that Romanowski had "intent to injure someone". Like a DUI isn't an intent to
injure someone? Additionally, football players are supposed to hit, not get sloshed.
I'm not a Romanowski fan, either. But, you can see my point. I'm not necessarily
dogging on just Griese for this chintzy policy. I'm sorry, but I think a DUI is a HELL
of a lot more antisocial than hitting someone with your helmet, or dancing in the end zone.
Griese supporters will be quick to point out that similar incidents have happened with
Brett "Boomhauer" Favre. Remember all the reporters joking about Brett Favre trying to
stay away from the sauce in New Orleans, before Super Bowl 31? The difference (and this is still
up int he air at this point), is that Favre didn't sugarcoat his problem and didn't
flat out lie about having "just a few drinks". If Griese did lie to the media and Shanahan, then
the Broncos have a HUGE problem on their hands. Griese's Bronco career would be over before
Christmas. Like the mysterious David Bowens exodus of last Spring. Bowens was a second year
guy, who was shipped out to Green Bay for a 7th round pick. No real reason was given, but
news reports mentioned/speculated on drugs, alcohol, gambling and all sorts of other problems.
For now, a hypocritical, egotistical drunk is still the starting QB. I was actually thinking they
could win 10 games? Did I mean in ONE season, or two?
