COMICS-(WHEN HYPERTIMES COLLIDE)

estragand.com's first step in our mission to educate the audience about the Birds and The Bees. This month we look at the Bees...namely three distinct sets of 'em. We step things up a notch as this the very first Hypertime Arean tag Team Match. On top of that it's also the very first 3-Way Tag-Team Dance of Bee Superiority.

Our first entrants from Major League Baseball are the Houston Astros' Killer B's- Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio. Teammates since 1991, Bagwell and Biggio have collected numerous Gold Gloves, All-Star appearances and have led the Astros into baseball's postseason several times.

They're opposed on the comic side by Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne/Pym, better known as Yellowjacket and the Wasp, the two have been frequenters of Marvel Comics' "Avengers" since the super-team's inception in 1963. Both can communicate with insects, fly, shoot "bio-stings" and shrink to insect-size.

The final participants come from 1980's WWF, the Killer Bees- B. Brian Blair and "Jumpin" Jim Brunzell. The Bees enjoyed moderate success as a technically competent babyface tag-team from 1985 to 1988. While they never ascended to champion status in the WWF, the Bees had some of the better tag-team matches of their day. Aside from their names and the yellow-black trunks, the Bees would occassionally whip out masks, allowing them to confuse their opponents and the referees.

Final score: a hard fought 8-7-3-1 victory for the Avengers duo of Yellowjacket and the Wasp. Proving that once again, two tiny comic book heroes can beat two masked wrestlers, and two guys with bats in silly uniforms...simultaneously! Soundtack for this month's Hypertime Arena match was supplied by Anthrax's "Attack of the Killer B's" CD. Until next time, bee careful out there (groan).
